Quiet Hillside Location

The Highbrook Motel is ideally situated on Rt. 3 (94 Eden St.) in Bar Harbor, Maine, across from the College of the Atlantic. From late June to Columbus Day, our guests have free access to the Island Explorer Shuttle. From the Highbrook, there is direct (paved road) access into Acadia National Park. This access point at West St. Extension is great for walking or biking on the carriage roads or quick access to Cadillac Mountain and the Park Loop Road.  You will find our location to be very attractive, safe, and quiet.

From The South – Direct Route
Follow Interstate 95 North To Bangor, Maine. Take exit 182-A and follow Rt. 395 East for approximately 5 miles.
Take exit 6A to Rt. 1A East to Ellsworth – approximately 23 miles.
Continue on Rt. 3 from Ellsworth to Bar Harbor – approximately 20 miles.

From The South – Scenic Route
Follow Interstate 95 North To Augusta, Maine. Follow Rt. 3 from Augusta to Bar Harbor.

From The North
Follow Interstate 95 South To Bangor, Maine. Take Exit 182-A and follow Rt. 395 East for approximately 5 miles.
Take exit 6A to Rt. 1A East to Ellsworth – approximately 23 miles.
Continue on Rt. 3 from Ellsworth to Bar Harbor – approximately 20 miles.

Bar Harbor / Hancock County Airport
Cape Air provides daily scheduled airline service to and from Boston. The Highbrook Motel is approximately 11 miles from the airport. Taxi’s or rental cars are available on site through Hertz and Budget. Free bus transportation is available late June through Columbus Day on the Island Explorer.

Driving Directions From The Bar Harbor/Hancock County Airport
From the Airport, turn left onto Rt. 3 and continue for approximately 11 miles toward Bar Harbor. We are on the right, just before Downtown Bar Harbor.

Travel Tip:
Cape Air is an affiliate of JetBlue Airways. This means you can book your flight into Bar Harbor Airport through JetBlue.

Bangor International Airport
Currently served by Allegiant, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines and United Airlines. The Highbrook Motel is approximately 50 miles from the airport. The car rental agencies at the airport include Avis, Budget, Hertz, National, and Alamo. Transportation is also available by taxi, limousine or by the Bar Harbor – Bangor Shuttle Tel. 207-479-5911.

Driving Directions From The Bangor International Airport
Exit airport via Godfrey Blvd. Turn right onto Maine Ave. and follow for 1 ½ miles as Maine Ave. becomes Odlin Rd. Within a mile, turn left onto I-395 East and continue for just under 5 miles. Take Exit 6A onto US-1A East to Ellsworth – approximately 23 miles. Continue on Rt. 3 from Ellsworth to Bar Harbor – approximately 20 miles. We are on the right, just before Downtown Bar Harbor.

Travel Tip:
Allegiant Air offers non-stop service from Sanford, FL, and Clearwater/St. Petersburg, FL to Bangor, Maine. If you traveling from the sunshine state this is the simplest way to fly. We use it ourselves when we head south in the winter! No layovers and the shortest flight time.

Portland International Jetport
Portland International Jetport offers more airlines and flights to choose from than the Bangor or Bar Harbor Airports. Currently served by American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Elite Airways, JetBlue, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines.

The Fast Way. (Approximately 3 Hours)
The Scenic Way. (Approximately 4 Hours)
Or The Compromise. (Approximately 3 1/2 hours, but takes you by Fort Knox and across the Penobscot Narrows Bridge.

Location Tips

The Highbrook is exactly one mile to the Town Pier in the center of the Downtown area.

You can walk from the Highbrook Motel to the Downtown area via sidewalk along Eden Street.

You can access the Park Loop Road for touring Acadia or the Carriage Roads of Acadia via West Street Extension, from right behind the Highbrook.

There is a connector trail beginning at our neighboring property which connects to Duck Brook Road in Acadia. This is a great path to go for a walk in the park right from our location.
