Acadia is one of the most visited National Parks in the US. It is comprised of over 30,000 acres of mountains, coastline, and wilderness to explore. There are over 100 miles of hiking trails in Acadia and over 50 miles of biking trails on its carriage roads. Also, a trip to Acadia National Park is never complete without a drive or guided tour through the scenic 27 mile Park Loop Road. All of this and more is waiting for you when you stay at the Highbrook Motel in Bar Harbor, Maine.

For over 35 years the Highbrook Motel has been lovingly owned and operated by June & Lewis Bowden. They both began their inn-keeping careers in 1978 from humble beginnings and with no experience. Through hard work and perseverance, they established the Highbrook Motel as one of the most reputable and respected lodging businesses in Bar Harbor. Today they continue to be a part of the Highbrook Motel and assist in various capacities.

Their son, Adam, is the Highbrook’s General Manager and resident innkeeper. He was born into the business and has been around it his entire life. Adam began working at the Highbrook Motel full-time in high school and continued to do so while pursuing his college degree during the off-seasons. Today he pushes the Highbrook into the future and works tirelessly to build off the foundation his parents so diligently laid. He can be spotted around the property every day of the season ensuring all of the guests are cared for and is eager to assist and help you in any way that he can.

Their daughter, Lynne, is a registered nurse who works full time at a nearby hospital. Lynne took on the values and work ethic she witnessed from her parents growing up in a small, family business and applied them to a career in the medical field. During her time off in the summer season, Lynne visits the Highbrook and lends a hand. With her upbringing, Lynne is a hospitality natural and can quickly jump in to assist.

We have always made it our highest priority to assist guests at the Highbrook Motel in any way that we can. Our unrelenting commitment to guest satisfaction is what has afforded us the opportunity to turn the Highbrook into a multi-generational family business that continues to meet the needs of today’s travelers. Attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness are prominent points of emphasis that we feel are truly important to the comfort and satisfaction of our guests.

As we move forward we will continue to push ourselves to attain the highest levels of guest satisfaction and adapt our practices to continue meeting the changing needs of travelers. Our core values will not change but we will continue to evaluate and evolve how we can better serve each and every guest that we accommodate.

Our 26 unit property rests on a sloping 4-acre hillside. The Highbrook’s limited room inventory affords us the benefit of catering to a more select group of travelers. We generally do not accommodate group bookings, wedding parties, reunions or any group that we feel may adversely impact the quality of stay for any of our guests. Almost all of our rooms have one king bed keeping virtually all of the rooms limited to a maximum of two people. What this does is help to provide a quiet, relaxed atmosphere you won’t always find at larger properties.
